Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows= AMAZING!

So, as you may know, the final Harry Potter movies is finally coming out as a two part movie starting in two weeks! I am so excited for this for the fact that I am a huge Harry Potter fan. I guess you could say I am kind of a closet freak Harry Potter fan.

I guess my obsession started with Harry when I was in 7th grade, maybe younger...I am not sure. My friend Kelly got me into reading them, and when I did I could not stop. Something about them just made me go into another world. It was kind of nice at that age to go into another world, and just forget about everything around you.

The first book was good and the second got better. From there, they only got amazing! This last book that is now finally a movie, is by far the best movie that will be produced of all of the movies. The action and drama that will go into this is so huge, that it can not be put just into one movie!

I am re-reading the book right now, and just refreshing my mind with all of the information is getting me super excited! I know, this is weird, and kind of freakish, but at least I am not like my friend Karlisa! She is so crazy about Harry Potter, that she is dressing up for the movie, she owns a wand from the movie, she collects everything Harry Potter, and etc. It is kind of crazy how crazy she is for Harry.

That is all I have to write about right now. I just wanted to get my excitement out for Harry and the new movie that will be coming out at midnight November 19th! I can not wait! I will blog about the movie later when I have seen it

Fright Fest 10'

So, this past weekend I went to Ohio to go see my bff, and go to Fright Fest at Kings Island. Now, this is not just any ordinary fright fest. This is one where you ride rides alllllll day, then when the sun sets, the freaks and creeps crawl out of the wood work to scare and terrorize the guests of Kings Island. It really is a freaky experience, with many haunted house to satisfy your scaring needs.

First there are the 6 indoor haunted houses that there are to enjoy. The first one I went to was Pirate Cove. The name is explanatory as you can see. It was not very scary, but the pirates were funny to look at. The next was Wolf pack. This was a haunted house that had werewolves in it. This was kind of creepy, but not the best. We then proceeded to go to Massacre Manor, this creepy clown one where I got hit on by a midget clown who called me toots, then another one that obviously sucked because I do not remember the name of it.

Next, was the out door haunted houses, and these were the best, We went to the Terror-tory Train Ride where it was based on the wild west. It was good, but not the best. The best was the Trail of Haunted Tears. This was set back in the woods, and was filled with creepys all over! It has zombies, corn stalkers, crazy insane girls, and what I like to call "ground swippers." I made this name up as I saw it sliding towards me and it FREAKED me out. I almost kicked it.

The roller coasters were a hoot, and the food is of course never good and over priced. I would have to say I had a pretty good day at Kings Islands Fright Fest. What sucks now is I am exhausted, I have school tomorrow, and I ate so much fast food this weekend that I may turn into a Big Mac....FML! Owell, this kind of fun only comes once in a while, so live it up and seize the day! Carpe Diem!

WAIT! I remember the last indoor house! It was called Club Blood. This haunted house = gay. It had ghost strippers. Hell no to this...yup

I can not keep forgetting my blogs! SHITTTT

I am the worst at remembering to write these blogs! I have so much going on in my life, that these kind of take a back seat to the rest of my life. I know that is no excuse, but it really does fall close to last on my list of things to remember.

I am uninvolved in two internships, a double major, a sorority, many organizations and many volunteer organizations. One would say that this is my own fault for forgetting these blogs, and that no one is to blame but myself. This is very true. This is why I need to write more than 20 blogs. I am doing this to make up for the time I have not spent on blogs and the time I have spent on my other activities.

Time just seems to fly anymore though. I feel that every time I have free time, something comes up and I just become even more busy than what I was. I am always doing homework, school, activities, sorority crap. When will it ever be time for me to just relax and take a deep breath of fresh air for god sakes!

This weekend I will be taking a mini vacation to visit my best friend from Ohio, and I can not wait! This is going to be much needed time that is required for me to regain my sanity back from this hell I call school. Don't get me wrong, I love my friends, and classes, but the homework and the busy work is getting to me.

I have seriously bitched a lot in this blog. Sorry for this. As i stated in my last blog, this is just a nice way top let out my feelings and to vent a little. If I didn't have this to vent to, I would go mad. I don't really talk to my girlfriends about my craziness in my life and my problems. I don't trust them as far as I can throw them, and that is not far at all. LOL

Any who......That is my vent session. Kind of scatter brained, but hey it is a blog and I got my feeling out. A two for one deal!

More later.....blahhhh

Graduation .....come NOW!

I have come to the point in my life where I am positively, absolutely DONE with college! I am sick of homework, roommates, classes, and everything else that comes with this god forsaken life style.

I just want to get out into the real world, and start a job that keeps me stable with money, and give me a social life that is elegant, fun, and full of business! That is the kind of fun I am waiting for!

I understand that one day I will miss it, and want to come back, but as of right now I am going out of my mind. Lets start off with school. I hate classes. I am so tired of having to write papers, do stupid two page papers on what I think is good business, OR putting on a campaign that sucks! I am not leaning anything right now I feel. I am learning in your class though, and it is the only class that is teaching me jack!

Next is my roommate. She is driving me bonkers I am sick of cleaning after her, listening to her talk loud, eat loud, drink loud. I am going to kill her in her sleep. I know it is mean , but I don't give a shit right now.

I plan on going to graduate school though, and I am curious if that will be anything like college? I know it will be harder, of course, but will it be like wild, retarded college. Who knows......I guess I will just have to find out when I get there.

I am also fed up with all of the guys that go to school. It is literally impossible to find a good looking guy who is not a horny, testosterone, jacked up asshole! Not that all college guys are like this, it is just all the ones I have met suck d*%k.

Alright. I am done venting for now, but I may be back with another blog to let out my stress and aggression. It is a good place to do just that!

Starry night, wonderful night...

Have you ever just look up at the stars and wondered what is out there in the great unknown? Have you ever wondered if there is life beyond what we know? These are just a few questions I ask my self when I stare up at that beautiful sky we have every night.
The stars are just so amazing, and it makes you wondering whats out there staring back at us. Wondering about us. Thinking about us.

When I went to Indianapolis a few months ago, I went to an IMAX theater and watched a movie on the Hubble telescope. It was just astonishing on how far away it could capture images and show what is to far for the human eye to even see. The other galaxies, nebula's, and planets out there are just amazing in every way, shape, and form.

I have always been interested in the solar system and everything in encompasses. The stars and the planets have always been a great mystery and I love the fact that we have these things out and about around us. When you think about it, it is kind of a hard thing to realize that we are not alone out there in this hug, vast solar system. It is fun and scary t o think about at the same time.

One day I hope that we have the power to travel far out into space and visit other planets. I am not one to believe in the "alien" hype, or UFO's, but I do believe we are not alone and that there is other life forms out there.

One day we will travel, and discover things that we could never imagine. We will be amazed and astonished, and when that moment comes, I hope to be alive and well to witness this remarkable feat.

Blogging?

Blogging....what do I even blog about? What can I even blog about? Who can I blog to? These are all things that I consider and wondering when getting ready to blog. Well tonight, I have come to a point to where I am blogged out. I have no clue on what to even say or talk about! I have blogged about everything I like. Lets see:

Fall...check
Movies...check
Cheering...check
Play the game at a bar...check

I have talked about so many different things, that I am mind blank at this particular moment. I think my teachers ( not you) have burnt me out in all my classes and have fried my mind. I mean, I am literally blank on a topic. So, I thought I would blog on blogs because it sounded fun! I know weird, but I had to talk about something!

I am not a boring person or anything, but sometimes my good old mind just goes blank and dead. So, I am sorry if this blog is not good, or not up to par, but it is all I had for a starry fall night. On a different note, have you ever just looked at the stars? They are so gorgeous and so mysterious. It makes you wonder what is really out there in the great unknown.

Wait....

Did I just think of a topic to write about? Yupp! So, I am going to save this for my blog tomorrow night, and save it to entertain you for another day!

Marriage and all the bells and whistles that go with it =)

Marriage is an awesome thing. It is a time in two peoples lives where they have found the right one to share their life with. It is a beautiful thing, but it is a time that also comes with a great deal of planning.

I went to my first wedding ever this past weekend, and I was so impressed with what they are all about. I have always know I wanted to be a wedding planner, and that wedding helped me to make my future decision of what I want as a career.

I talked to the bride about her planning after the wedding was over and asked what exactly went into the making of her special day. She said it took a little over a year to get everything ready and together. She did not tell me how much the weeding cost, but she said it was a hefty penny.

Her wedding colors were black and red, with no specific theme. Her dress was white, while her maid of honor wore black and her brides maids wore red.

The cake was white, black, and red with her and her fiances initials on top. They had a buffet of Italian beef, meatballs, and other snack stuff.

From what I saw it was pretty, but nothing like what I would have panned. For her it was beautiful, but it could have been planned a lot better.

Here's looking at you kid

Have you ever just had that one movie that you could watch over. and over, and over, and over!? That one movie that you could just quote through out the whole viewing of it, or even when the movie is not even on? Well, I have that one movie and it is Casablanca.

I am such an old movie buff, and Casablanca is my all time favorite. Ever since I was a little girl watching old movies with my dad, I fell in love with the movie just for the shear fact of the romance, love, thrills, and chills of the movie.

The movie is about two star crossed lovers that met during WWII. Their names were Rick and Ilsa. They met in France during the German invasion. They were madly in love, until Isla found out her husband had escaped from the Germans and was still alive. A few years later, Ilsa ends up walking into Ricks gin joint and rekindling old feelings. In the end though, Rick ended making her leave with her husband, to leave Rick standing Casablanca all alone.

I know it was a very vague briefing of the movie, but it is certainly an amazing movie and one that everyone should watch and ad to their movie collections. Thanks to my father, I have a wonderful apprecitation for older movies and what was really "good acting." Too bad not everyone can enjoy a good old black and white film. So, go to your local movie store, get a black and white film( preferably a Bogart or Cagney film) and enjoy!!

YELL Like HELL!

So, every year the Greeks on campus have this competition called Yell Like Hell. It is a cheer competition that happens every year during homecoming. Every sorority and fraternity gets paired up with one another and practices a routine for a little over a month. This is mt second year in Yell Lime Hell, and we have just started to practice!

Last year, Kappa Delta ( my sorority) and Sigma Pi were grand champions of it, and we plan on dominating once again this year.

We are paired with Beta Theta Pi, and we feel we already have a strong team, and it is only the second day of practice! We have started to stunt, jump, and do flips. We are on the right track right now I guess you could day. We practice everyday for about an hour, but when it gets close to competition time, we will practice for at least three hours a night. We take this very seriously, but still have fun in the process.

Our biggest competitors are Alpha Gamma Delta, but I think we can come out on top again. I will say though A.J., if you were in college and in a sorority, this would be right up your alley. lol I can totally see you being a cheerleader! =)

So, wish us luck, and we will hopefully be taking home that awesome trophy once again!

PANTHERS, PANTHERS, EIU! PANTHERS, PANTHERS, ROARRRRR!! (that was one of our cheers from last year!) hahahaha

Cold Weather ....brrrr!

So it is a Saturday night, and I am stuck inside writingg blog! Go figure right? The  culprit to blame....the cold, raining weather. I mean, don't get me wrong, I love fall ( as you read from my last blog) but this is just ridiculous! I could be out having a nice cold beer, but instead I am stuck in my apartment freezing!

It is alright though for the fact I can get homework done and finally, after a long time, I get to watch Saturday Night Live. I know exciting right!

It is nice having fall here though. The first day of it didn't feel like it, but now it is really to start shape into a cool beginning of fall. I was going to go take a walk, but with the rain that idea is a no go.

At this very moment, I am watching the show 1000 Ways to Die. I have never watched this show before, and I do have to say that it is very interesting! I just got done watching a part where a man died trying to kick a cat. He hit is head on a fire place,  and broke is spinal cord. It was pretty wicked.

Tomorrow brings a better day though because at noon I will be going to Curtis Orchard to go get some apples and cider! I can not wait!!!!!! Now that is an awesome way to begin fall!

Bid Day 2010!

Today was the ending of another recruitment season and the beginning of something amazing! It was the Panhelletic recruitment bid day, and we received so many wonderful new baby Kay Dees!

It was such a wonderful moment when all the Kappa Deltas were standing outside the Kappa Delta house. We were waiting for all of our Kappa Deltas that were Gamma Chis to come back and our new girls! When we saw them running down the street, it was just a moment that can not be explained. The joy on the faces of the new girls running to their new home was amazing! It really was a proud moment for me and a moment that I thought I was going to cry on.

After we hugged them and we said our welcome backs, we took them inside for food and to get their Kappa Delta gifts! We took a lot of pictures, and shared a lot of tears.

After this, we got to witness one of our older Kappa Delta members become the sweetheart of Sigma Nu fraternity!

It truly was a magical day and one that I will never forget!

Falloween!

Fall is one of the most amazing times of year. With hot apple cider, the colors of the leaves, and the cool breeze, it is a time of year to bring out the romantic in any one.

It is also the time of year for my all time favorite sport to start, and that is FOOTBALL! The sounds of hot dogs and burgers sizzling on the grill as people pop open their favorite beer is an amazing combination. The fans, as they cheer for their favorite team, whether they win or lose, is also an amazing thing!

One of my favorite things to do doing the fall is to visit the covered bridge festival in Indiana. It is a festival they put on every year through out the state of Indiana to commemorate the old covered bridges of Indiana. It is truly a beautiful sight to see these bridges that have so much character and history to them. Each one tells an amazing story, and you can only imagine the things it has been through.

I also love to go through corn mazes! If you ever have been through a corn maze, then you know what I am talking about, but if you have not, then you are sure in for a treat! A corn maze is when a corn field is converted into ....yup, you guessed it, a maze! They put different  dead ends in certain places and have surprises around certain corners! It really is an amazing experience!

Another aspect of fall that I absolutely love is bonfires! Just sitting around a fire, with your friends telling ghost stories is awesome! Oh, and you can not forget the hot dogs and smores! Mmmmm!

I also love fall because it brings an awesome holiday, which is Halloween!! This is a time of year where ghost, ghouls, and goblins come out to play, scare, and send chills up the spines of the young and old! It really is a scaryyyyy time of year!

BOO! Got ya!

Oh this is ladies night, and the feelings right!

If your a drinker like me, you go to ladies night on Wednesdays and go to Styx on Thursdays. Now don't get me wrong, I study, get homework done, and I am a good student, but I do like to have my fun...every week of course =)

I guess you could call me an old pro when it comes to going out.  So, I decided to provide some tips and tricks to getting yourself free drinks, dressing tips for both nights, and the right moves to make when hitting the bars and dance floor.

WARNING: Does not always work for everyone! So, if you read this and it does not work, don't come crying to me! It's only suggestions! =)

1. When hitting up Wednesday night at the bars, you can dress of three ways: Casual, dressy causal, or rocking the stilettos hott! The casual dress is really meant for Styx, due to it being a mellow night at the bar and the ever amazing $1 beers they serve! Dressy casual is meant for the Penalty Box or Stu's, due to the very hip music and kind of up beat bar scene. Now if you want to get stiletto hott, you need to hit up Marty's. This is a time to look hott, drink it up, and maybe get a few numbers. (and I don't mean hook up!)

2. Plain and simple, if you can't dance...DON'T DO IT! It makes you and your friends look like fools!

3. Thursdays are the ultimate of party nights! It starts the beginning of a long weekend for most students, and results in awesome partying and good times. This is a night to get super dressy, dance your butt off, and go home with a wonderful buzz! No one could ask for a better night!

4. If you are wanting to get drinks ANY of these nights from the hott guy across the bar, here are some things you need to do. First, don't act desperate. Guys don't like that at all. Also, don't be clingy if a guy decides to buy you this drink. Act casual and say thanks. Flirt a little, then ask them to dance. For the love of god though, DON'T ACT SLUTTY. Unless you really want "it", and that's just you. If that's you, then go right ahead. If your a polite girl like me, you get their number, maybe a goodnight kiss, then high tail it home.....or to the nearest after party! =)

These are just my rules. Take them or leave them. If you follow some of my rules though, you to can have a successful Wednesday and Thursday. =)

Kid Fest = I need a drink fest!

So, I am doing an internship for Sarah Busch Lincoln. This internship is called I Sing The Body Electric, and it is a program that helps kids and teens to form healthy behaviors by expressing themselves through art. Sounds fun, and it really is!

Well, today I had to attend an event for my internship called Kid Fest. This was an event that lets kids just be kids! It had healthy snacks, prizes, jumping houses, and crafts. Well, I was in charged of crafts and I thought this would be a fun, happy experience.

 I WRONG!

These kids were crazy, obnoxious, annoying shits who made huge messes and annoyed me. Now, don't get me wrong, I love kids......but this was just a little to much kid for me.

I made it through the day though, and now, as I write this blog, I am drinking a cold Budweiser! Boy does it taste good!

Well it was well worth it in the end. To see happy, healthy kids is a wonderful sight. So, as I sit here and drink, lets hold our beers high and cheers to healthy kids and the keeping of my sanity! =)

Until next time!

Ghosts! Boo!

Have you ever wondered if they are real? You know ghosts!

Well, from personal experience and living in a haunted house, I have tons of experience with the paranormal and all that fun stuff.

I live in a house that was built in 1918, and has has been through a few renovations and owners. My house, when you first step inside, has funeral lights hanging on the walls and a front, glass door that was built to fit a coffin through. Yea, I know, creeeepppyy! To me though, it is the most amazing thing ever!

I remember one time, when I was about ten years old and I was up in my room falling asleep. My bed was located next to a window, so of course there was a curtain rod and curtains. All of a sudden, the curtain rod just popped off the window and fell right on top of me. I should have been scared, but at that time I was not. I just got up out of my bed and put it back up.

Another time that something weird happened was when my mother was in the bathroom one night. She was, I believe, taking a shower when she heard a huge thud. She got out and opened the door to find a bunch of books and papers scattered all over the floor. She asked my father if he had been in the office, but he said no. The creepy thing about all of this is the books and papers were on a book case to where there is no way they would have just "fallen" out. Sometimes, I here footsteps coming up my basement stairs as well.

One story that really gets to me is one that my brother has told and accused me of. There has been many nights where I will go out with my friends and come home drunk. I'll be honest! I always go straight to bed though and I never go into any other room but my own or the bathroom. Well, one morning my brother came down stairs and started jumping my ass for waking him up and standing over him in the middle of the night. This, of course, made me think he was crazy. He let it go, and we went on with the day. Well, a few nights later he said I did it again! I thought he was nuts! It has happened many times after that though, and now we realize it has to be a ghost. It kind of creeps my brother out, but he has learned to deal with it. If they have not hurt us by now, then I do not think they ever will!

One other experience that I have had was when I went cemetery hopping one night. Yes, I said cemetery hopping. I live in a very small country town, so we get very bored and like to see haunted things. So, cemeteries it is! One night my friend Kasey and I went to a small cemetery that was located right in the middle of a corn field. It looked creepy, and fun, so we decided to stop. We got out of the car and started to walk. As we approached the cemetery, we both stopped dead in our tracks. I was the first one to speak and I said, " OMG! Kasey, do you see what I see!" He of course responded "Yes!" What we saw was a man, standing right beside a tomb stone that has to of been at least 5 7' high. This man was dressed in clothing from the 1800's and was wearing a bowler hat. He was standing, staring, transparent.

It was FREAKY!

All of a sudden I felt my arm being jerked and we were running away, really, really, fast. That would have to be the scariest thing I have ever seen.

I have seen bike ghosts, forest ghosts, and other things as well. I guess ghosts just like me. =)

Awkward encounters =)

So, it was just the other day, and I was in one of my many recruitment meetings that I have to drag my butt to on a daily basis. We were mock rushing girls in our house, and showing them the basics of how to rush a girl the right way. I was one of the girls getting mock rushed in my house. So, being who I am, I was going to make this an experience they would not forget!

With this, I decided to have an alter ego named Chevelle. I told this girl that my name was Chevelle and that I was a super senior at EIU. I told her that I was on the EIU cheer team for two years, but got kicked off for alcohol problems. I then proceeded to tell her that I then went to alcohol counseling, but it didn't help.

I then told her that I joined Student Government, but got kicked off for sleeping with all the boys on the executive board.

She then asked me why I wanted to join a sorority. I told her it was because of boys and booze. I had her rolling on the floor with laughter. Another girl then came up to me and started to mock recruit me. She said I had a very pretty name. At that very moment my mind went back to the movie "Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby," and I told her I was named after the car that I was conceived in! It was epic!

She then asked about my kid that I named Minnie after Minnie Mouse (of course!). After all of this crap that I was telling them, it was then time to end the mock rush. They did a great job handling my awkwardness and it made me proud to have them in my house.

Kappa Delta Recruitment 2010

So, for the next three weeks, I will be going through a process called Panhalletic Recruitment. Kappa Delta, plus nine other houses will be rushing girls of every age, grade, and ethnic background. This is a process that I have had the honor of going through two times. I am kind of nervous, as well as excited to see the new potential members.

It is like a high when talking to all the new potential members. When I am standing on the stairs of the Kappa Delta house, anticipating the doors opening to let the new girls in, I get a nervous feeling that excites me. The fact of getting to meet so many amazing girls, is such an honor and thrill at the same time.

When the end of the three weeks is up, we then decide on our new members. The process is a hard and long one, but one well worth going through.

On bid day, which is when all the new potential members find out their houses, it is a day of happiness and new beginnings. Just seeing the new girls running up to our house with smiling faces and sometimes tears, is an amazing and epic feeling.
